Last Sunday (2nd Feb 2015) at 11 am I was supposed to be starting the Forfar Half marathon. Unfortunately on the Friday before I got some kind of virus that meant I wasn't getting anywhere near the start line, let alone the finish. I ended up having to spend the whole weekend under a blanket coughing and sweating. Cursing whatever this was. I'm still not 100% but feel able to do normal things while still coughing and spluttering the whole time. I'm also shattered. Like properly tired. Everyday since Friday I've had to have a nap in the afternoon. Not one of those fun ones that you choose to take but the kind that will happen no matter what you're doing so you might as well land somewhere soft because you're going down anyway.
This has left me pondering what the F** I'm going to do about my training schedule for Loch Katrine. I was training well, and following my plan until last week and now I'm at 6's and 7's about whether to go straight back to the plan or if I need to re-start a few weeks back. Also, did my long run contribute to this??? Arrrgghhhhh! I hate being in a position of indecision and I've had way too much time on my hands to think and re think all of the various options through.
I'm going to look at my work and training plan then decide what to do. Either way writing it down seems to help.
Finally, when can you go back to running? Normally I don't care because if you go out a little early it doesn't have big consequences you just take another few days off after but I don't think I can afford another few days off.
Being sick is Rubbish.
Congratulations of everyone that did run the Forfar Half I heard great reports about it from a few people. I hope to be back again next year.
